A quick 30 miniute drive from southern Oaks is The Baker House . Built around 1890, the home consists of a two story main house with porches on both floors and a separate two story kitchen house. Much of the main house is still original; it is a beautiful landmark in Sumter County.

Watch dressage, rodeos, and equestrian competitions year-round, or simply stroll the grounds and take in the horses. It's an easy, low-cost outing that pairs well with a relaxed afternoon back at the park.
Bring the whole family to the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing and International Drag Racing Hall of Fame, just 20 minutes from Southern Oaks in south Ocala. Nearly 300 vintage and modern race cars — including Don Garlits' legendary "Swamp Rat" dragsters — make for a fun, hands-on outing that keeps young visitors engaged for hours. Plan on 2–3 hours to see both buildings.
